Harrison Marshall, a 28-year-old architect, moved into an 8-square-metre skip house in Bermondsey, South East London, at the end of last year as part of a public art project to “highlight the housing crisis being faced by the community.” It all started when he moved back to London in 2022 after spending a few years living abroad and needed to find a place to live, but prices were “through the roof.”

NHS warns threat of tripledemic this winter as hospital flu cases rise – Raven News

The NHS England alerted the risk of a “tripledemic” of COVID-19, flu and record demand on urgent and emergency services as the latest data showed 10 times more people in hospital with flu than this time last year.

The report released last week by the NHS recorded a daily average of 344 patients with flu in hospital in the UK in the week from November 14 to 20, 2022, in comparison with 31 cases reported in the same period last year.

Southwark councillors criticise lack of government funding affecting essential services in the borough – Raven News

Southwark councillors warned the lack of financial support from the UK government to the local council has affected the provision of vital services to residents during an assembly meeting on Wednesday.

Deputy Cabinet Member for Employment, Councillor John Batteson, said £142 million has already been cut from Southwark’s government funding since 2010, which represents 63 percent of the core funding it received from the government.

COP 27: Protestors in London call for climate justice – Raven News

Hundreds of protestors across London took to the streets in a march towards Trafalgar Square on Saturday to demand climate justice, in solidarity with the Global Day of Action worldwide called by campaigners at COP27.

The event, organised by the Climate Justice Coalition, called for “an urgent response from governments and leaders to climate and other multiple linked crises,” as well as “bring movements together” to speak out on climate inaction.
